About Robert Mattaliano

Live from the stage/my workspace

As a strategically-informed development writer and project manager, I’ve helped several ambitious campaigns increase engagement and revenues. I also have broad experience in identity, enrollment marketing and media relations at institutional, school/college and departmental levels. I work in digital, print, video, social media and events.

As Director of Development Communications, I produced a range of development communications and managed a team of writers at Drexel University in Philadelphia, supporting annual fund, major, principal and planned giving in a comprehensive $800M campaign advancing 15 schools and colleges, the Academy of Natural Sciences and St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children.

Previous higher education and academic medicine clients have included Columbia University Medical Center, Syracuse University College of Visual and Performing Arts, Pace University School of Law, the University of Chicago and others. I’ve collaborated with creative agencies including eCity Interactive, EFK Group and Leibowitz and have been a contributing writer on higher ed communications at Volt.

Prior to higher education, I produced compelling print and digital content at Time Warner and Newsweek for global brands including Bank of America, Fidelity Investments, Ford, GlaxoSmithKline, Humane Society of the U.S. and Starbucks. I received a B.A. in humanities from the University of Chicago, completed courses in social media at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and recently earned an online certificate in digital marketing from the S.C. Johnson Graduate School of Management, Cornell University.

As a skilled writer and collaborative manager, Robert elevated Drexel’s fundraising and stewardship content across multiple channels and formats, supported the acquisition of significant donor investments and led a range of compelling communications when our campaign successfully concluded. I highly recommend him for any ambitious development effort.
